New Bike Lane

Metro Louisville installed its first modern bike lane in November 2005. It is on Jackson Street from Broadway to Main Street. This will tie nicely with the planned bike lanes on Main and Market streets next year. Interestingly, Jackson Street runs through the heart of Liberty Green, an Active Louisville project site.

This has been a cooperative work involving a lot of agencies, KYTC, Public Works, KIPDA, Bicycling for Louisville. The project was coordinated by Todd Schartung, Regional Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator. Todd has also produced an educational brochure on bike lanes.
