Maintenance of the Bike and Rider Classes The Maintenance of the Bike and Rider classes went well again this year. We averaged 40 participants per session, which was a little down from last year. What we lacked in numbers, we made up for in quality of the participant. This year’s group included riders from as far away as Lexington and Elizabethtown. Participation was consistent, with most people attending all four sessions. Special thanks go to the presenters: Glenn Todd, Cheryl Brawner, Tom Vinson and Steve Sarson. Thanks also to those who led workshop sessions: Mimi Beilman, Phil Patterson, Tom Armstrong, John Samways, and Tim Chilton. I’d also like to thank AB Sandefur for his efforts to secure the building, prepare snacks, and generally make sure everything was ready to go at the church. A big thanks to our local bike shops for their support as well: Schellers, Highlands Cycle, and Bicycle Sport for providing door prizes and participating in our mini bike-and-gear show, and also to Clarksville Schwinn for providing door prizes. Many of the participants said they were looking forward to the Monday night classes and riding to Bardstown in the fall. Let’s remember to welcome these new participants at club rides and work to make them comfortable as part of the best cycling club around. Monday Night New-Riders Classes Change Location Monday night new-riders classes will begin on Monday, May 5th at 6:30 PM. We have changed the location to 4500 Bowling Boulevard. This is the large office complex between Browns Lane and the Milestone Wellness Center, one of our OKHT sponsors. Milestone has offered use of their pool to class participants after our class and ride. We are working with Milestone, as they want to become more involved with club activities. The classes will offer a short presentation on specific cycling skills, a chance to practice those skills in the parking lot, and will conclude with a short training ride. If you know of any new cyclists who may be interested in attending the classes, please invite them to attend.
