Bike Maintenance Classesby Steve Sarson, VP Education
2003 "Maintenance of the Bike and Rider"Classes Planned Maintenance of the Bike and Rider classes, hosted by the Education Committee of the LBC, will be held on four consecutive Tuesdays in March, beginning on the 4th and ending on the 25th. They will be held at Broadway Baptist Church on Brownsboro Road. Classes will begin at 7:00 PM and run approximately two hours. The following major topics will be presented: Basic Bike Maintenance, Bike Fit, Training and Nutrition, and Clothing and Gear. Following the presentation of the major topic, numerous workshops will be offered. Members of the LBC will present these workshops. The workshops will include hands-on tire changing, road rules and etiquette, gearing and shifting, riding with the club, and ride captain training. Additional workshops may be offered. The major topics will be presented once, while the workshops will be offered each week. Participants can choose which workshop(s) they wish to attend. On March 25th, we will invite local bike clubs to attend and bring a display of their bikes and cycling accessories. Refreshments will be served each week. Door prizes will be given away weekly. These classes are presented free of charge by the Education Committee of the LBC, and are open to new and experienced cyclists alike. Come on out — you never know what you might learn. Any club member interested in volunteering to help with the workshops, please contact Steve Sarson at 499-7089 or 645-6388. We look forward to seeing you in March.
