Alliance for a New Transportation Charterby Cheryl Brawner
The LBC Executive Committee voted to join the Surface Transportation Policy Project’s Alliance for a New Transportation Charter. The LBC is not alone — every national bicycle advocacy organization in the United States has joined the charter. This charter wishes to take TEA-21’s initiatives for transportation funding for, among other things, bicycling facilities and programs to its full potential. The charter promotes transportation choices which will, in turn, enhance public health and safety, social equity and a better quality of life, while saving energy and protecting the environment, instead of our present one-size-fits-all highway investment. Needless to say, part of this multi-modal transportation equation is bicycling. For more information on the Alliance, please visit http://www.antc.net/.
